Trainers or individuals who have the responsibility for delivering manual handling training. There is no prior learning requirements for this course.
By the end of the course the participant will be able to display an understanding of:

• Manual handling activities
Defining basic physical actions in manual handling
• Factors that cause the problem
Identifying factors that create the problems in manual handling
• The outcome of poor manual handling
Acute and Chronic injuries and health problems
• Task analysis for the operative
• Kinetic handling techniques practical including:
Lifting, Lowering, Pushing, Pulling and Carrying
• Team Lifting
• Looking after your back
• Structuring and delivering the training including dealing with varying learning styles
• Assessing your trainees.
• practical and knowledge

There is a short written test and the trainees will be assessed on the practical element.
The training involves candidate participation with the emphasis on the practical element of the training. On day two the candidate will carry out a practical training session on which they will be assessed.
The candidate will complete a pre-course questionnaire, a mid course interview and a post-course professional discussion to fulfil the requirements of the City and Guilds Profile of Achievement criteria.
