Who is RoSPA (and what does it mean to be RoSPA Assured)?

With recent news that a number of our Train the Trainer courses have become RoSPA Assured – with more to follow in the future – we thought we’d shine the spotlight on RoSPA and the incredible achievements they’ve made possible within the world of health and safety. So, who is RoSPA, what impact have they had on society as a whole, and what does it truly mean to be RoSPA Assured?

Who is RoSPA?

RoSPA stands for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, and they’re a registered charity with one mission – to promote safety and prevent accidents everywhere.

Since their foundation in 1917, RoSPA has been working tirelessly to influence safety procedures and best practice, and curb the alarming increase in accidents. The charity was actually formed in response to the high rate of traffic accidents in London, but now works to improve safety, save lives and reduce injuries across the country at work, at home, on the road, in schools, at leisure and everywhere else.

What have they made possible?

Thanks to their intervention and guidance over the last century, RoSPA has been a pioneering force. The charity has led the safety agenda, influenced government policy and sparked societal change to create safer spaces for all.

Unfortunately, their work is still not over with some 16,000 people dying of accidental causes every single year.
