Safety Representatives Course

Course Schedule:

Course Aim:

To enable trainees to achieve an understanding of the basic requirements of health and safety relating to their duties.

Suitable for:

Individuals selected for the role of safety representative.

Duration:

Two days

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, the participant will be able to display and understanding of:

  • State the legal responsibilities of both the company and themselves.
  • Outline the procedure for risk assessment.
  • Carry out effective monitoring of control measures.
  • List the reporting procedures for health and safety problems in the workplace.
  • Demonstrate a model of communication for resolving health and safety issues.

Course Outline

  • Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 – Responsibilities.
  • Risk Assessment process.
  • Monitoring controls in the workplace.
  • Organisation and reporting.
  • Communication in health and safety.
  • Behavioural safety.

Assessment Criteria:

The training is interactive with the emphasis on participation.

There will be a written question paper however it is not pass or fail.

The training will be focussed on the application in the trainees own working environment.
