This is not your usual 'How to pick up
a box' course. This training addresses
work-based problems, enabling you to create
practical solutions. The techniques used
are from the latest research, including postural
alignment techniques.
Duration: Two days
Course Aim: To enable the candidate to carry out their
own courses to train operatives in safe material
handling in compliance with the relevant
regulations Suitable for: Trainers or individuals who
have the responsibility for delivering manual
handling training.
Covering: Work based solutions in the techniques
of lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling and
carrying of various sized and shaped objects.
Learning Outcomes: By the end of the course the participant
will be able to display an understanding
of: * Regulations * Manual handling activities * Factors that cause problems * Outcomes of poor manual
handling * Task analysis for the
operative * Kinetic techniques -
lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling and carrying * Team Lifting * Looking after your back * Structuring and delivering
the training * Assessing your trainees

Assessment Criteria: There is no written test - trainee participation
is with the emphasis on the practical. On
day two the candidate will undertake a practical
training session on which they will be assessed.
Each candidate will be required to fill in
a pre-course and a post course form to fulfill
City & Guilds requirements to successfully
complete the course.
Candidates will receive a full trainer's
pack including software with PowerPoint,
lesson plan and all course materials required
to deliver the course.
